Weekly Photo Challenge: Opportunity


 

When all circumstances are favorable…   that is  Opportunity…

Where we live in Australia, rabbits are considered vermin.  They are detrimental to our environment as an introduced species.  The cat is also considered the same to a point.

My cat is desexed and sleeps inside at night and doesn’t seem to worry about birds.  Afterall why would she, as all of  her killer instincts are satisfied with hunting and killing rabbits.

She breaks their neck clean and brings them to the back door.  The rabbits are at times bigger than her.   I found this to be rather a quirky thing.

I really feel that she is taking an opportunity that has been handed to her on how we say in Australia “on a silver platter”.

  1. This is great. Can’t believe your cat kills rabbits larger than herself. We had a great cat for 17 years, but when she died we never got another. Thanks for visiting my site!

    • Yes I have to say I am amazed myself! Goes to show just how strong they are! She is an adopted one and I have had her for four years and she was 7 when she came to us. Her mummy was moving cities. I had known her since kitten hood and didnt hesitate really! She is a lovely edition to our family! I said the same as you. I lost my other two a few years back now.. and they were 16 and 17 and died a year apart! That was hard and I said I wouldnt have another, but when Sootee needed a home it just seemed right! Guess what, my gut feeling was right! Thankyour for commenting!
